{"id":10628,"date":"2018-03-15T12:53:36","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T12:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/?p=10628"},"modified":"2018-03-15T14:41:49","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T14:41:49","slug":"__trashed-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/2018\/03\/15\/__trashed-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge @lert for Thursday 15th March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>National Diabetes Audit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership has published three reports from the National Diabetes Audit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/resources\/nda-core-report-1-2016-2017-full-report-care-processes-and-treatment-targets\/\">National Diabetes Audit, 2016-17 report 1: care processes and treatment targets England and Wales<\/a> \u2013 provides GP practice and specialist service level information and supplementary reports on severe mental illness and learning disability with diabetes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/resources\/national-diabetes-footcare-audit-third-annual-report-2014-2017\/\">National Diabetes Footcare Audit: third annual report 2014-17<\/a> \u2013 presents findings on care structures, patient management and outcomes of care for people with active diabetic foot ulcers<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/resources\/national-diabetes-inpatient-audit-england-and-wales-2017\/\">National Diabetes Inpatient Audit England and Wales, 2017<\/a> &#8211; details the quality of diabetes care provided to people with diabetes while they are admitted to hospital whatever the cause.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Care for people with diabetes and a learning disability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A collaborative team funded by The Health Foundation and the University of Leeds has created a set of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diabetes.org.uk\/Professionals\/Resources\/shared-practice\/for-people-with-learning-disability\">evidence-informed, practical resources to improve care for people with diabetes and a learning disability<\/a>. The resources help commissioners and health practitioners to make \u2018reasonable adjustments\u2019 to the care they provide to people with diabetes breaking down barriers for people with a learning disability.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Instant messaging in the NHS: an exploration of the relationship between consumer messaging applications and modern healthcare delivery &#8211;\u00a0CommonTime<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commontime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Report-Instant-Messaging-in-the-NHS.pdf\">report <\/a>reveals that 43 per cent of NHS staff rely on consumer instant messaging at work. It finds that WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and other unauthorised instant messaging apps are being used by 500,000 NHS staff at work, as a growing number turn to consumer tools to communicate with colleagues and sometimes patients.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Using your apprenticeship levy &#8211;\u00a0NHS Employers<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/-\/media\/Employers\/Publications\/Spending-the-apprenticeship-levy.pdf\">briefing <\/a>looks at how NHS organisations can successfully tap in to the apprenticeship levy, and the wider benefits of providing apprenticeships and how they can support with addressing workforce supply challenges.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Quality patient referrals: right service, right time &#8211; Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP)<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/-\/media\/Files\/Policy\/A-Z-policy\/2018\/RCGP-referral-management-feb-2018.ashx?la=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report <\/a>argues that referral management centres must demonstrate their safety for patients and cost-effective to the whole NHS. It cites a dearth of evidence on referral management centres and argues that\u00a0\u00a0they are ultimately more expensive to run than other systems designed to improve and maintain the quality of GP referrals.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Community indicators project: Improvement tool &#8211;\u00a0NHS Improvement<\/strong><br \/>\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/improvement.nhs.uk\/resources\/community-indicators-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scorecard <\/a>is a set of indicators that can be used to compare trusts to peers on patient and staff experience, and the effectiveness and responsiveness of their services.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Seven day hospital services: implementing a seven day frailty flying squad- NHS Improvement<\/strong><br \/>\nRobin Fackrell, consultant physician and head of medicine division, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust outlines an <a href=\"https:\/\/improvement.nhs.uk\/resources\/seven-day-hospital-services-implementing-seven-day-frailty-flying-squad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">initiative in geriatric care which aims
