It also sets out how NHS England will, through the distribution of funding, people and resources, support \u2018Next Steps\u2019 to transform local health and care systems.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Commissioners use of research<\/strong><br \/>\nThe National Institute for Health Research has published a \u2018highlight\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dc.nihr.ac.uk\/highlights\/health-commissioners-research-evidence\/\">How commissioners use research evidence<\/a>.\u00a0 This highlight summarises six studies on the use of evidence by commissioners.\u00a0 It includes studies into the behaviour of individual managers and the way in which commissioning organisations make sense of and use research information when making decisions. The findings provide some practical pointers for researchers to make their work more accessible and relevant to commissioners and managers.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NHS productivity<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Centre for Health Economics has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/che\/news\/news-2018\/che-research-paper-152\/\">Productivity of the English National Health Service: 2015\/16 update<\/a>.\u00a0 This research paper updates CHE\u2019s time series of NHS productivity growth for the period 2014\/15 to 2015\/16 and reports trends in outputs, inputs and productivity since 2004\/05.\u00a0 Over the last eleven years NHS productivity has increased by 13.49% or an average of 1.17% per annum.
