\nThe Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) has published Management of stable angina<\/a>.\u00a0 This guideline provides evidence-based recommendations and best practice guidance on the management of patients with stable angina. It covers investigations; the optimum medical treatment to relieve symptoms and the relative benefits of different interventions; provision of patient education; and whether psychological interventions can help improve symptoms and quality of life.<\/p>\n

\nConnected Health Cities and The Farr Institute have produced an animation, #datasaveslives<\/a>, to answer questions about the use of patient data by UK universities, researchers and scientists.\u00a0 The 3 minute animated film has been designed to increase public awareness of how routinely collected NHS data is safely and securely re-used by universities for health research.<\/p>\n

\nThe Queen\u2019s Nursing Institute has published Nursing in the digital age: using technology to support patients at home<\/a>.\u00a0 This report is based on a survey of over 500 nurses working in the community and seeks to determine how far new healthcare information technology has changed in the last 6 years and how skills and community services have adapted.\u00a0 The report makes a range of recommendations to both provider organisations and commissioners.<\/p>\n

\nNHS Improvement and NHS England have published Allied health professions supporting patient flow: a quick guide<\/a>.\u00a0 This guide demonstrates how NHS emergency care can benefit from the skills of allied health professionals (AHPs) and highlights innovative service redesign and the delivery of new care models. Each section gives a brief overview of the contribution AHPs can make to safe, effective patient care and flow, followed by case studies.<\/p>\n

\nNHS England has published three rapid cancer diagnostic and assessment pathways<\/a>.\u00a0 These documents set out how diagnosis within 14 days and diagnosis within 28 days can be achieved for the colorectal, lung, and prostate cancer pathways.<\/p>\n

\nThe Royal College of Physicians has published Less waste more health: a health professionals guide to reducing waste<\/a>.\u00a0 This report explains how health professionals can positively influence societal health and wellbeing by making simple changes to the procurement and disposal of medical supplies.\u00a0 It contains a range of case studies and makes 12 recommendations.<\/p>\n

\nThe King\u2019s Fund has published Developing new models of care in the PACS vanguards: a new national approach to large-scale change?<\/a>.\u00a0 This report contains reflections from those who have led the development of the Primary and Acute Care System (PACS) model, nationally and locally.\u00a0 It is not an evaluation of the PACS model or of the new care models programme.\u00a0\u00a0 The insights will be useful to those constructing future national support programmes intended to facilitate transformation in local health and care systems. The lessons learned will also be relevant to those involved in the ongoing implementation of PACS and similar models.<\/p>\n

\nThe Public Accounts Committee has published Cyber-attack on the NHS<\/a>.\u00a0 The report finds that the Department of Health and Social Care and its arm’s-length bodies were unprepared for the relatively unsophisticated WannaCry attack and people across the NHS did not know how best to communicate with the Department and other NHS organisations.\u00a0 Lessons have been learned but there is still a lot of work to do to improve cyber-security.\u00a0 The Committee has set a June deadline for the Department to provide an update on costed plans for vital security investment.<\/p>\n

\nMindEd for Families has launched MindEd for Older People<\/a> which is a free web-based resource providing information about mental health issues for older people and their families.\u00a0 The resource is supported by NHS England in partnership with Health Education England.<\/p>\n

\nIn anticipation of the seventh Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week<\/a> (14-18 May 2018), NHS Employers has issued resources to support organisations in highlighting their work to create a fairer, more inclusive NHS for patients and staff.<\/p>\n

\nThe Nursing and Midwifery Council has launched a consultation on Proposed standard for the new nursing associate role.<\/a>\u00a0 As part of its proposals the regulator has outlined its approach to education including ambitious standards of proficiency for the role that will enable nursing associates to deliver first class care.\u00a0 Under the plans nursing associates would be subject to the same revalidation requirements as nurses and midwives when renewing their registration with the NMC as well as the same fitness to practise processes should something go wrong.\u00a0 The consultation closes 2 July 2018.<\/p>\n
