{"id":11185,"date":"2018-05-08T14:48:57","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T13:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/?p=11185"},"modified":"2018-05-08T14:48:57","modified_gmt":"2018-05-08T13:48:57","slug":"knowledge-lert-for-tuesday-8th-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/2018\/05\/08\/knowledge-lert-for-tuesday-8th-may\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge @lert for Tuesday 8th May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nursing, midwifery and care staff learning tool &#8211; NHS England<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS England has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/leading-change-adding-value-learning-tool-to-support-all-nursing-midwifery-and-care-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leading change, adding value: learning tool to support all nursing, midwifery and care staff<\/a>.\u00a0 This document provides details of the Leading Change, Adding Value (LCAV) framework and supports all nursing, midwifery and care staff to identify and address unwarranted variation in practice \u2013 recognising unequal standards of care and changing them.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Operational workforce planning: a self-assessment tool &#8211; NHS Improvement<\/strong><br \/>\nCreating an effective workforce requires an evidence-based workforce plan, integrated with finance, activity and performance plans, and directly involves leaders and managers of the service.\u00a0Working with workforce planners and trusts, we have created a <a href=\"https:\/\/improvement.nhs.uk\/resources\/operational-workforce-planning-self-assessment-tool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tool that details the characteristics and processes of effective workforce planning<\/a>. It enables self-assessment against typical workforce planning requirements, complements and signposts to existing workforce planning resources and provides transparency on how we review workforce plans.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The learning disabilities mortality review: annual report 2017 &#8211;\u00a0Health Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Learning Disabilities Mortality Review programme was established to support local areas to review the deaths of people with learning disabilities, identify learning from those deaths, and take forward the learning into service improvement initiatives. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/LeDeR-annual-report-2016-2017-Final-6.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This annual report summarises the learning and recommendation from 103 reviews of deaths of people with learning disabilities during 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Freedom to Speak Up: guidance for NHS trust and NHS foundation trust boards &#8211;\u00a0NHS Improvement<\/strong><br \/>\nEffective speaking up arrangements protect patients and improve the experience of NHS workers. This guidance contributes to the need, set out by Sir Robert Francis in his\u00a0Freedom to Speak Up\u00a0review, to develop a more open and supportive culture that encourages staff to speak up about any issues of patient care, quality or safety. <a href=\"https:\/\/improvement.nhs.uk\/resources\/freedom-speak-guidance-nhs-trust-and-nhs-foundation-trust-boards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The accompanying self-review tool<\/a> supports the standards laid out in the guidance. It supports trusts&#8217; review around the eight key lines of enquiry set out in the well-led framework.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Supporting research in the NHS: consultation &#8211;\u00a0NHS England<\/strong><br \/>\nIn November 2017, NHS England set out\u00a0proposals for how they would work with the Department of Health and the Health Research Authority to implement changes to simplify NHS research proposals. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/nhs-englands-response-to-the-public-consultation-supporting-research-in-the-nhs-a-consultation-covering-changes-to-simplify-arrangements-for-research-in-the-nhs-and-associated-chan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">summary of responses received to the consultation has now been published<\/a> and is accompanied by details of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/12-actions-to-support-and-apply-research-in-the-nhs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">12 agreed actions to support and apply research in the NHS.<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>HR professional development strategy<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS Employers has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/news\/2018\/04\/nhs-hr-professional-development-strategy-stocktake-report-now-published\">NHS HR professional development strategy stocktake report<\/a>.\u00a0 The report evaluates the outcomes of the Aspirant Director of Workforce Career Development Programme. The work was undertaken by NHS Employers to promote NHS HR, social media activities and regional activities that are taking place within HR Director networks to support NHS HR professional development.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Equality analysis on the proposed amendments to Clinical Excellence Awards (CEAs) for consultant graded doctors in the NHS in England &#8211;\u00a0Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS Employers and the British Medical Association proposed changes to the way NHS consultants are rewarded for their performance. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/clinical-excellence-awards-equality-analysis-on-proposed-changes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This publication considers how the proposals may affect protected groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Spending on and availability of health care resources: how does the UK compare to other countries? &#8211;\u00a0The King&#8217;s Fund<\/strong><br \/>\nHow does health spending in the UK compares to other countries and how does the NHS measures up on some of the key resources this spending pays for?
