Transformational change in health and care: reports from the field – The King’s Fund<\/strong>
\nThe King\u2019s Fund has been calling for transformational change to respond to the growing pressures and demands in the health and care system<\/a>. We have argued that transformation is best brought about \u2018from within\u2019, led by frontline staff and service users, and that it needs collaborative and distributed leadership styles.<\/p>\n

Enhanced observation and care collaborative – NHS Improvement<\/strong>
\nWe’re supporting trusts taking part in the collaborative to adopt improvement methodologies and creating a learning community for them to discuss the changes they’re implementing.\u00a0We will be sharing their findings as they progress through their quality improvement journey, so you can learn and implement them in your own trust.<\/a><\/p>\n

Transformational change<\/strong>
\nThe King\u2019s Fund has published Transformational change in health and care: reports from the field<\/a>.\u00a0 This report presents stories of transformational change from 42 people who were involved in leading, supporting, delivering, receiving or witnessing changes from four sites that have been recognised as successful transformation initiatives: Bromley by Bow Centre (innovative community organisation), Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust (Rapid Assessment, Interface and Discharge), Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital and Buurtzorg Nederland (transforming community care through a nurse-led, cost-effective approach).<\/p>\n

\n

Alcohol treatment services<\/strong>
\nAlcohol Concern and Alcohol Research UK have published The hardest hit: addressing the crisis in alcohol treatment services<\/a>.\u00a0 This report sets out the findings from a national survey of stakeholders involved in, and using, alcohol treatment services in England. It identifies a range of challenges and highlights the need for action to ensure that treatment services do not enter a cycle of disinvestment, staff depletion, and reduced capacity.<\/p>\n

\n

Operational workforce planning<\/strong>
\nNHS Improvement has published Operational workforce planning: a self-assessment tool<\/a>.\u00a0 This tool provides resources to support trusts to create an effective workforce.\u00a0 It enables boards to carry out an organisational diagnostic against a key set of indicators and includes guidance on supporting evidence, policies and resources.\u00a0 It will be useful for boards, divisional teams, commissioners and stakeholders and workforce planning leads.<\/p>\n

What matters to you?<\/strong>
\nNHS England has published resources to support the What matters to you?<\/a> day which will take place on 6 June 2018.\u00a0 The aim of the day is to encourage and support more conversations between people who provide health and social care and the individuals, families and carers who receive that care and shift the focus from \u2018what is wrong with you\u2019 to \u2018what matters to you\u2019.<\/p>\n
