As a result, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales has made thirteen recommendations to improve the quality of patient discharge.<\/p>\n

The report has found a need for tailored training, more continuing professional development, and for more recognition and incentives for those choosing a career in health and social care for older people.<\/p>\n

\nThis study<\/a> finds that the closure of emergency departments does not lead to more deaths. The research, which analysed five emergency departments (EDs) in England that were downgraded between 2009 and 2011, found there was no impact on death rates upward or downward, despite patients having to travel further to access emergency care.<\/p>\n
