NICE quality standards describe high-priority areas for quality improvement in a defined care or service area. Each standard consists of a prioritised set of specific, concise and measurable statements. They draw on existing guidance, which provides an underpinning, comprehensive set of recommendations, and are designed to support the measurement of improvement. Closing date for comment 31 October 2014.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Implementing The \u2018Responsible Consultant\/Clinician\u2019 And \u2018Named Nurse\u2019 In Your NHS Foundation Trust \u2013 Monitor<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the recommendations of the Francis Report and the government\u2019s response was that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/367091\/_Responsible_consultant-clinician__and__named_nurse__241014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">every hospital patient should have the name of the consultant and nurse responsible for their care above their bed<\/a>: the \u2018responsible consultant\/clinician\u2019 and \u2018named nurse\u2019. This letter to all foundation trust medical and nursing directors outline details of the implementation of the \u2018responsible consultant\/clinician\u2019 and \u2018named nurse\u2019 recommendation. Each NHS trust has been asked to provide the relevant information on the implementation of these recommendations.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>NHS providers strategy toolkit<br \/>\n<\/strong>Monitor has published a toolkit to support all NHS providers in developing clear and well-thought-out strategies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/strategy-development-a-toolkit-for-nhs-providers\">Strategy development: a toolkit for NHS providers<\/a> has been developed with five NHS foundation trust \u2018test sites\u2019 to support all FTs \u2013 acute, community, mental health and ambulance trusts \u2013 in developing sound strategies.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Final Care Act guidance published<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Department of Health has published a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/updating-our-care-and-support-system-draft-regulations-and-guidance\"> suite of updated guidance<\/a> in relation to the Care Act following a government consultation on draft regulations and guidance on the care and support reforms in the Care Act 2014 which come into effect in April 2015. The consultation received over 4,000 responses from many different sources. The Department of Health has updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/care-act-2014-part-1-factsheets\">Care Act factsheets<\/a> in light of the government response to the consultation on regulations and guidance.
