This aims to help reduce delays in handover of patients from ambulance services to emergency departments.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Board assurance framework for seven day hospital services<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/improvement.nhs.uk\/resources\/board-assurance-framework-seven-day-hospital-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new measurement system <\/a>replaces the previous self-assessment survey and consists of a standard measurement and reporting template, which all providers of acute services will complete with self-assessments of their delivery of the 7DS clinical standards.<br \/>\nThis self-assessment will then be formally assured by the trust board and the completed template submitted to regional 7DS leads to enable measurement against the national ambitions for 7DS.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Rural health care<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Nuffield Trust has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk\/research\/rural-health-care\">Rural health care: a rapid review of the impact of rurality on the costs of delivering health care<\/a>.\u00a0 The Nuffield Trust was commissioned by the National Centre for Rural Health and Care to explore the key issues around the impact of rurality and sparsity on the costs of delivering health care.\u00a0 The analysis suggests that while the association between rurality, overstretched services and financial pressure are unclear, NHS trusts with \u2018unavoidably small\u2019 sites do appear to underperform: as well as having generally longer waiting times and lengths of stay, they are also in greater financial difficulty.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Employer guide to nursing associates &#8211;\u00a0NHS Employers<\/strong><br \/>\nNursing associate is a new regulated role which bridge the gap between health and care assistants and registered nurses. With the first cohort of qualified nursing associates set to join the registered workforce,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/employershandbook\/nursingassociates\/employer_guide_to_nursing_associates.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> this interactive guide<\/a> for employers has been produced to provide advice and support for those exploring the potential of this new role within their organisations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Community health services<\/strong><br \/>\nThe King\u2019s Fund has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/publications\/community-health-services-explained\">Community health services explained<\/a>.\u00a0 This \u2018long read\u2019 sets out what community services are, the challenges they face and how they are changing.\u00a0 The paper calls for greater priority and attention to community services at national and local level and calls for growing gaps in the community workforce to be addressed otherwise staff shortages may limit plans to deliver more care in community settings.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Supply of medicines<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Chief Pharmaceutical Officer has published a letter which outlines the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/medicine-supply-update-letter-from-dr-keith-ridge-cbe\/\">steps taken so far to protect the continuity of supply of medicines<\/a> should the UK leave the EU without a deal.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Health and Social Care has also published brief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/getting-medication\/getting-medication\">information for patients on how they will continue to receive medicines and treatment<\/a> if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Public Health Outcomes Framework consultation<\/strong><br \/>\nPublic Health England (PHE) has launched a consultation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/public-health-outcomes-framework-proposed-changes-2019-to-2020\">Proposed changes to the Public Health Outcomes Framework from 2019 to 2020: a consultation<\/a>.\u00a0 PHE is planning to update the Public Health Outcomes Framework in the summer to ensure that it continues to be relevant and meets the needs of users.\u00a0 PHE would like feedback from users on their proposed changes to ensure they are helpful and appropriate.\u00a0 The consultation closes on 17 February 2019.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Atlas of Shared
