It finds that rising demand for NHS services combined with workforce pressures and an underfunded social care system means there is a still a long road ahead for trusts in tackling care backlogs. It highlights how the pandemic has deepened existing pressures and finds that many waiting times\u00a0targets are taking longer to deliver than expected. However, trusts report that the number of patients being seen in mental health services and cancer services exceed pre-pandemic levels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>National guidance on quality risk response and escalation in integrated care systems &#8211; NHS England<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/B1497-nqb-guidance-on-quality-risk-response-and-escalation-in-ics.pdf\">guidance<\/a> is to support system leaders as they develop their approach to quality management. It sets out how quality concerns and risks should be managed within integrated care systems in collaboration with NHS England and wider partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Khan review: making smoking obsolete &#8211; independent review into smokefree 2030 &#8211; Office for Health Improvement and Disparities<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/1081366\/khan-review-making-smoking-obsolete.pdf\">independent review<\/a> into the government\u2019s current tobacco control policies, led by Dr Javed Khan OBE, looks into whether government will achieve its ambition to make England smokefree by 2030. It finds that although good long-term progress has been made in reducing smoking rates to their lowest ever level, almost six million people still smoke in England and smoking is still one of the largest causes of health disparities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NHS faces leadership shake-up after review finds evidence of discrimination and bullying &#8211; The BMJ<\/strong><br \/>\nOn 8 June the government published the findings of an independent review into health and care leadership in England that found evidence of discrimination, bullying, and blame cultures in the NHS.
