In recent years there has been increased debate around the \u2018professionalisation\u2019 of this staff group, which generally refers to the creation of a statutory register of staff and their professional regulation. This report reviews what the evidence shows about the professionalisation of care workers in other countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workload issues affecting GP trainees\u2019 plans for their future careers &#8211; The King&#8217;s Fund\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the fifth time since 2016, The King\u2019s Fund has surveyed GP trainees on their plans for their own careers and on the future of general practice more generally. Each time we ask questions about trainees\u2019 intended future working patterns, one year, five years and ten years after completing their qualifications. This year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/blog\/2022\/09\/workload-issues-affecting-gp-trainees-plans-their-future-careers\">survey of GP trainees<\/a> shows excessive workload and intensity is having a significant impact on how trainees plan to work in future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and care workforce in Europe: time to act &#8211; World Health Organization. European Region<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All countries of the WHO European Region currently face severe challenges related to the health and care workforce (\u200eHCWF)\u200e. This <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.who.int\/iris\/bitstream\/handle\/10665\/362379\/9789289058339-eng.pdf?sequence=1&amp;isAllowed=y\">report<\/a> focuses on identifying effective policy and planning responses to these HCWF challenges across the Region. The report presents an overview of the HCWF situation in the Region (\u200efocusing on medical doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, pharmacists and physiotherapists, for whom data are available)\u200eand identifies relevant policy options, their expected benefits and potential facilitators or barriers to successful implementation.
