The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) proposes that care pathways designed around the individual needs of the complex surgical patient and delivered by a multi-disciplinary perioperative care team will lead to patients receiving the most appropriate care. An integrated approach will minimise inappropriate interventions, reduce cancellations, complications and readmissions and ensure quicker recovery and discharge from hospital. Fundamentally patients should receive better quality care, and experience better outcomes at a lower cost.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Leading the Care Act<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Social Care Institute for Excellence has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scie.org.uk\/news\/mediareleases\/media-release?id=a1UG0000004IuvZMAS\">Leading the Care Act: report from SCIE Roundtable held on 5 March 2015<\/a>.\u00a0 This is the report from a series of roundtable discussions on leading the Care Act.\u00a0 The discussions explored how to improve care and support at a time of growing demand, demographic change and financial constraint.\u00a0 The sessions covered: community-led care and support; leading the Care Act; Health and Wellbeing Board; and social care and technology.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Update of shortage occupation list NHS Employers<\/strong><br \/>\nAs of April 2015, an updated version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/tier-2-shortage-occupation-list-from-6-april-2013\" target=\"_blank\">UK shortage occupation list<\/a> is in operation.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Commissioning for Value<br \/>\n<\/strong>NHS Right care has published videos of presentations from its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightcare.nhs.uk\/index.php\/commissioning-for-value\/commissioning-for-value-march-2015-videos-of-presenters\/\">Commissioning for Value events<\/a> held in March.\u00a0 The sessions included:Using the Commissioning for Value Tool 2014; Interpreting the Commissioning for value pack; Improving Referrals in the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group and using the NHS Right Care approach to engage across the system to improve CVD outcomes for the population of Bradford.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Research into an ageing workforce<br \/>\n<\/strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">NHS Employers has begun <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/news\/2015\/04\/national-research-into-ageing-nhs-workforce-commences\">research into the ageing NHS workforce<\/a>.
