It recommends a range of interventions focused on improving attitudes and knowledge; limiting unhealthy cues and irresponsible retailing practices; and creating a healthy food environment. Some of the measures aim to directly protect children and young people, while others are to help parents and carers in making the right choices.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><strong>Quality improvement methods<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/b>The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership has published a <b><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/hqip-launches-free-quality-improvement-methods-guide\/\">Guide to quality Improvement methods<\/a><\/strong><\/b>. The purpose of this guidance is to signpost those working within, leading, commissioning and using healthcare services to a broad range of quality improvement methods. It brings together twelve quality improvement methods, providing an overview of each and practical advice on how and when to implement them, with illustrative case examples.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><strong>Improving health and wellbeing through digital technologies<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/b>The top prize in the <b><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mhealthhabitat.co.uk\/pdd-award-finalists\/\">People Driven Digital unAwards<\/a><\/strong><\/b> has been won by an online app which can help save the life of a person experiencing cardiac arrest.\u00a0 The Lifesaver app acts as an interactive crisis simulator which uses live-action film to teach the user how to perform CPR and use an automated defibrillator. Further details of all the finalists and the winners for each award category can be found using the above link.<br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><strong>Breast cancer campaign for women 70 years and over<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/b>Public Health England has launched a nationwide \u2018<b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/public-health-england-launches-nationwide-breast-cancer-campaign\">Be Clear on Cancer\u2019 campaign aimed at women aged 70 and over<\/a><\/strong><\/b> to raise awareness of the risk of breast cancer amongst this age group and to increase their knowledge of lesser-known breast cancer symptoms. The campaign will run for 8 weeks from today (13 July 2015).<br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><strong>Health and social care economy<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/b>The European Services Strategy Unit has published <b><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.european-services-strategy.org.uk\/publications\/public-bodies\/health-and-social-care\/the-new-health-and-social-care-economy-dexte\/\">The new health and social care economy<\/a><\/strong><\/b>. Covering Sefton MBC, Liverpool and Greater Manchester City Regions and the North West regional economy, it demonstrates the economic importance of the health and social care economy; sets out the terrain on which the integration of health and social care must take place including privatisation, inequalities, austerity, demographic change and quality jobs; and makes local and national recommendations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><strong>Health and safety competencies for NHS managers<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/b>NHS Employers has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/news\/2015\/07\/health-and-safety-guidance\">Health and safety competencies for NHS managers<\/a>. The guidance looks at the nine key competency areas required for managers, identifying the core skills for every managerial post. The guidance will help health and safety professionals and representatives to assess whether their managers have the right skills and competencies to manage health and safety effectively.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b><strong>Alcohol\u2019s harm to others<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/b>The Institute of Alcohol Studies in conjunction with the University of Sheffield School of Health and Related Research has published<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ias.org.uk\/News\/2015\/13-July-2015-Majority-of-Brits-harmed-by-other-peoples-drinking.aspx\">Alcohol&#8217;s harm to others<\/a>.\u00a0 This report examines the extent to which consuming alcohol can impact on people other than the drinker.
