This will be done by completing the sections of the NHS Improving Quality Seven Day Service Self-Assessment Tool (7DSAT) by Friday 4th September 2015.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NICE shared learning: sentinel lymph node biopsy service for malignant melanoma<br \/>\n<\/strong>NICE has added a case study to its shared learning database <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/sharedlearning\/setting-up-an-effective-and-efficient-sentinel-lymph-node-biopsy-service-for-malignant-melanoma-within-the-nhs\" target=\"_blank\">Setting up an effective and efficient sentinel lymph node biopsy service for malignant melanoma within the NHS<\/a>. Published by Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, it describes how the sentinel node biopsy practice for malignant melanoma was established, early experience, and the implications for other units considering setting up the service within the NHS.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Safer management of controlled drugs<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0The Care Quality Commission has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cqc.org.uk\/content\/safer-management-controlled-drugs-2014\" target=\"_blank\">The safer management of controlled drugs 2014: annual report 2014<\/a>.\u00a0 This eighth annual report sets out findings for the period January to December 2014. It makes six recommendations to further strengthen these national governance arrangements and these will be reviewed in the ninth report. The recommendations in this year\u2019s review highlight the need for a consistent approach when organisations report controlled drug concerns, the importance of sharing learning to reduce controlled drug-related incidents and the need for greater engagement between local intelligence networks and social care organisations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Screening for risk of sudden cardiac death not recommended<br \/>\n<\/strong>The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) has upheld a recommendation against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/screening-for-risk-of-sudden-cardiac-death-not-recommended\" target=\"_blank\">screening for risk of sudden cardiac death<\/a>. The committee considered the evidence behind several proposed ways of screening people aged 12 to 39, including electrocardiography (ECG), personal or family history, physical examination and a combination of these approaches.
