This videofocuses on asthma, and aims to provide a snapshot to illustrate the variety and sometimes unusual work that GPs do every day.\u00a0 The series underlines the main theme of the campaign \u2018There\u2019s nothing general about general practice\u2019 which is that a GP provides individual one-to-one advice, care and support and they are central to the families and communities they serve.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>NICE advice<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">NICE has published a new evidence summary: unlicensed or off-label medicine <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/advice\/esuom48\/chapter\/Key-points-from-the-evidence\" target=\"_blank\">Excessive daytime sleepiness in Parkinson\u2019s disease: modafinil<\/a> (ESUOM48). &#8216;Evidence summaries: unlicensed or off\u2011label medicines&#8217; summarise the published evidence for selected unlicensed or off\u2011label medicines that are considered to be of significance to the NHS, where there are no clinically appropriate licensed alternatives. The summaries provide information for clinicians and patients to inform their decision\u2011making and support the construction and updating of local formularies.\u00a0 The strengths and weaknesses of the relevant evidence are critically reviewed within this summary.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">Health leaders views on headline issues<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>The Nuffield Trust has published its latest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk\/our-work\/projects\/health-leaders-survey-results-5\" target=\"_blank\">Health leader\u2019s survey results 5<\/a>. Since July 2014, the Nuffield Trust has regularly surveyed a panel of 100 health and social care leaders in England for their views on a range of issues including: finance, general practice and rationing. This latest poll was conducted between 17 August and 7 September 2015, via an online survey.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">GP recruitment drive launched<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>The first of a series of short videos to highlight the diverse and exciting nature of <a href=\"http:\/\/hee.nhs.uk\/2015\/09\/24\/hee-launches-first-video-for-gp-recruitment-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\">the role of a GP is being launched online<\/a> by Health Education England as part of a new campaign to encourage more young doctors to become GPs. Each video will use a theme to illustrate how the role of a GP is central to individuals, families and communities, show how every day is different and highlight the importance of the role. They are aimed at foundation doctors who are considering which medical specialty training to apply for.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Inflammatory bowel disease audit<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Royal College of Physicians has published the fourth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcplondon.ac.uk\/press-releases\/latest-uk-ibd-audit-report-shows-further-improvement-patients-following-biological-th\" target=\"_blank\">inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) clinical audit report<\/a>. The report reveals that the majority of patients (80% adult and 77% paediatric) with Crohn\u2019s disease saw an improvement following biological therapies. The purpose of this audit is to measure the efficacy, safety and appropriate use of the biological therapies infliximab and adalimumab, in patients with IBD in the UK. The audit also aims to capture patients\u2019 views on their quality of life at intervals during their treatment.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"NEW!
