{"id":2730,"date":"2016-02-26T13:46:34","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T13:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/?p=2730"},"modified":"2016-02-26T13:46:50","modified_gmt":"2016-02-26T13:46:50","slug":"knowledge-lert-for-friday-26th-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/2016\/02\/26\/knowledge-lert-for-friday-26th-february\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge @lert for Friday 26th February"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">DID YOU KNOW&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/news\/pages\/newsindex.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Behind the Headlines<\/a> provides an unbiased and evidence-based analysis of health stories that make the news every day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The service is intended for both the public and health professionals, and endeavours to:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>explain the facts behind the headlines and give a better understanding of the science that makes the news,<\/li>\n<li>provide an authoritative resource for healthcare professionals that they can rely on when talking to patients, and<\/li>\n<li>become a trusted resource for journalists and others involved in the dissemination of health news.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Changes in medicines legislation for Dietitians, Orthoptists and Therapeutic Radiographers &#8211; NHS England<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Patients under the care of a suitably trained and qualified Dietitian, Orthoptist or Therapeutic Radiographer will shortly be able to access some of their medication without visiting a doctor, thanks to changes in legislation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/2016\/02\/medicines-legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\">changes to legislation will introduce independent prescribing responsibilities<\/a>\u00a0for Therapeutic Radiographers and supplementary prescribing responsibilities for Dietitians. They will also enable Orthoptists to supply and administer medicines under exemptions within Human Medicines Regulations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before introducing the changes to their practice, eligible practitioners need to successfully complete a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) approved training programme and have this qualification marked against their name on the professional register.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">New resources explaining the vanguards programme<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>The NHS Confederation has published a new animation and suite of factsheets aimed at providing information and resources explaining the aims and objectives of the country&#8217;s fifty <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsconfed.org\/news\/2016\/02\/vanguards-summed-up-and-explained\">health and care vanguards<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 The resources are aimed at helping health and care staff, patients and the public gain a better understanding of the motivations of the vanguard programme, while explaining some of the innovative work currently happening across the country that&#8217;s already making a difference to people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Inflammatory bowel disease services audit<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Royal College of Physicians has published <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcplondon.ac.uk\/projects\/outputs\/improving-quality-ibd-services\">Improving quality in IBD services: UK inflammatory bowel disease audit<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 This report summarises the content and feedback from the 2015 regional service improvement workshops and shares successes and experiences of IBD teams as they work to develop their services.\u00a0 The inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) programme was established over ten years ago with the aim of improving the quality and safety of care for people with IBD throughout the UK with an emphasis on auditing the quality, care and services offered to patients.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">BNF format changes<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>BNF publications has made changes to the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bnf.org\/using-your-new-bnf\/\">format of the BNF<\/a><\/strong> to help facilitate future digital production and to bring the information into one place in the print format.
