The league table identifies levels of openness and transparency within NHS trusts and foundation trusts.\u00a0 It has been drawn together by scoring providers based on the fairness and effectiveness of procedures for reporting errors; near misses and incidents; staff confidence and security in reporting unsafe clinical practice; and the percentage of staff who feel able to contribute towards improvements at their trust.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>View the Trust&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/sp-intranet01\/Education,%20Training%20and%20Library\/Library\/Pages\/Lessons-Learned-Bulletin.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Lessons Learned pages<\/a> on the intranet site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>Training for patient safety<br \/>\n<\/strong>Health Education England has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hee.nhs.uk\/our-work\/hospitals-primary-community-care\/learning-be-safer\/commission-education-training-patient-safety\" target=\"_blank\">Improving Safety Through Education and Training<\/a>.\u00a0 Produced by the Commission on Education and Training for Patient Safety and supported by Imperial College the report sets out ambitions, the case for change, what is working well including case studies and where improvements need to be made to make the greatest difference to patient safety both now and in the future. It sets out the future of education and training for patient safety in the NHS over the next ten years, making twelve recommendations to Health Education England and the wider system. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>Maternity safety equipment funding<br \/>\n<\/strong>Department of Health has allocated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/over-2-million-investment-in-safer-maternity-care\" target=\"_blank\">funding to invest in new maternity safety equipment<\/a> to more than 90 trusts.\u00a0\u00a0 The money will enable trusts to purchase new equipment, including ultrasound machines and mother and baby monitoring equipment, so any problems can be detected and addressed earlier. This is part of the government\u2019s campaign to halve the number of stillbirths, neonatal deaths, maternal deaths and brain injuries occurring during or soon after birth, by 2030. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NICE Shared Learning<br \/>\n<\/strong>NICE has published a new shared learning case study:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/sharedlearning\/the-royal-liverpool-iv-fluid-team\" target=\"_blank\">The Royal Liverpool IV Fluid Team<\/a><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NICE guidance updated: antenatal care<br \/>\n<\/strong>NICE has partially updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/guidance\/cg62\/chapter\/7-Update-information\" target=\"_blank\">Antenatal care for uncomplicated pregnancies<\/a> (CG62).\u00a0 Recommendations 1.9.1.1\u20131.9.1.3 have been deleted as the guideline they were taken from has since been updated.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Eyes on Evidence<br \/>\n<\/strong>The latest edition of <a href=\"http:\/\/us8.campaign-archive1.com\/?u=7864f766b10b8edd18f19aa56&amp;id=a11187d69b\" target=\"_blank\">Eyes on Evidence<\/a> (March 2016) includes the following items:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bystander CPR for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest<\/li>\n<li>Effects of antimicrobial stewardship and infection control measures on MRSA infections<\/li>\n<li>Epidemiology of vivax malaria in the UK<\/li>\n<li>Delirium in critically ill people<\/li>\n<li>Smoke-free legislation and respiratory tract infections in children<\/li>\n<li>Evidence summaries from NICE\u2019s Medicines and Prescribing Programme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">NICE quality standard: preventing excess winter deaths<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>NICE has issued a quality standard <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/guidance\/qs117\">Preventing excess winter deaths and illness associated with cold homes<\/a> (QS117).\u00a0 This standard covers people of all ages, and takes into account that some people are particularly vulnerable to the effects of the cold, such as people with cardiovascular or mental health conditions, young children and older people.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">What\u2019s going on in A&amp;E?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>The King\u2019s Fund has updated its web article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/projects\/urgent-emergency-care\/urgent-and-emergency-care-mythbusters\">What\u2019s going on in A&amp;E?
