Sixty eight NHS organisations are using one or more of seventeen new innovations which aim to improve care by, for example, reducing clinical incidents, helping people self-care and linking up patients with others or with research schemes.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a class=\"msubject\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/ift.tt\/1qhYPgK\" target=\"_blank\">How a specialist care vanguard may design \u2018experimental tariffs\u2019 \u2013 Health Service Journal<\/a><br \/>\nAs the NHS begins to visualise the capabilities of new care models, two briefings written by HSJ\u2019s experts look at how vanguards are implementing service redesigns. Three trusts which make up the National Orthopaedic Alliance are defining a set of standards with which to award orthopaedics services. Those awarded its kite mark can then run services as part of a franchise.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">Public Health England strategic plan<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span class=\"TwoCE\">Public Health England has published its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/public-health-england-strategic-plan\"><span class=\"TwoCE\">Strategic Plan for the next four years: better outcomes by 2020<\/span><\/a><span class=\"TwoCE\">.\u00a0 The plan sets out how the organisation<\/span> intends to protect and improve the public\u2019s health and reduce inequalities over the next four years. It also outlines actions PHE will take over the next year to achieve these aims and deliver its core functions. It builds on the Department of Health\u2019s Shared Delivery Plan, the NHS 5 Year Forward View, and \u2018From Evidence into Action\u2019.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>Supporting patient\u2019s choices to avoid long hospital stays<\/strong><\/span> NHS England and partners have published the latest quick guide <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/NHSEngland\/keogh-review\/Pages\/quick-guides.aspx\">Supporting patient\u2019s choices to avoid long hospital stays<\/a>.\u00a0 This guide aims to support local health and social care systems to reduce the time people spend in hospital, when they are ready to depart and no longer need acute care, but are delayed whilst making decisions about or making arrangements for their ongoing care.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week<br \/>\n<\/strong>NHS Employers has published a toolkit to provide support for communications teams to deliver local campaigns for this year&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/case-studies-and-resources\/2016\/04\/equality-week-communications-toolkit\">Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week<\/a> (16-20 May). The theme for this year&#8217;s week is \u2018Making change happen\u2019.
