The report concludes that the greatest threats to the delivery of the NHS five year forward view are funding constraints and workforce shortages. It argues that policymakers need to look at how targeted and aligned policies covering the effective use of temporary staff, retention of existing employees and international recruitment can be used to address current shortages in staffing and skills in order to buy time, while a more long-term sustainable approach is introduced.

No clarity given on benefits of being in earlier wave of STPs, says London Councils – NHE News
Sustainability and transformation plans (STPs) will fall into a number of separate waves for approval over the next few months, but no clarity has been provided around the benefits of being in earlier waves, according to a new paper published by London Councils. It draws on an online poll of 2,066 people conducted by ComRes and a series of focus groups and interviews. The research suggests that almost two thirds of those aged 65 and over have never had a conversation with their family about key issues including preferences for end of life care, where they would like to live if they can no longer live at home, and who will care for them. The report warns that by putting off difficult conversations about ageing, families risk making rushed decisions about care, health, housing and financial matters at times of crisis.

Agency and overseas staff vital to ‘buy time’ until ‘boom and bust’ approach overturned – NHE News Mismatches between funding and staffing levels and repeated reorganisation have caused a “boom and bust approach” to the NHS frontline and will threaten the FYFV ambitions unless NHS providers use agency staff and…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[37,15,1

post-3615","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ccg","category-daily-news","category-uncategorized
["GET
