\n“We are looking for motivated individuals with a patient and public perspective to work alongside our research team. In this interesting role<\/a> you will be accompanying the study’s research team in visits to a sample of hospitals across England and actively contributing to the research”
\nThe revival of general physicians, whose breadth of expertise enables them to manage both acute and chronic health problems, has been proposed as a way of better caring for the increasing numbers of older and more complex patients requiring emergency medical admission. This 30 month project will provide high quality evidence about the models of medical generalism currently in use in smaller acute hospitals in England and explore their strengths and weaknesses from patient, professional and service perspectives.<\/p>\n

The review focused on three areas of care; the detection of health problems during pregnancy through screening; the diagnosis and management of newborn babies with deteriorating medical conditions, (with a particular focus on high blood pressure) and the management of infants requiring respiratory support in the community.<\/p>\n
