The report attempts to update earlier comparisons of the publicly financed health systems of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in terms of funding, inputs and performance before and since devolution. It describes Monitor&#8217;s mission, responsibilities and values, and outlines its commitment to quality care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Department of Health improvement plan<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Department of Health has published\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/department-of-health-improvement-plan-april-2014\">Department of Health Improvement Plan: April 2014<\/a>. It sets out what DH will do to ensure the long term health and success of the department. It has been developed following an assessment of the 4 critical themes of organisational effectiveness: performance; efficiency and innovation; capability; strategic risk and leadership of change.
