The analysis forecasts that areas with a high projected rate of population growth of over-85s and above average employment of nurses from the European Economic Area are most at risk of facing greater pressures in those health economies.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>Hospital activity and funding<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>The King\u2019s Fund has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/publications\/hospital-activity-funding-changes\">How hospital activity and funding in England have changed over time<\/a>.\u00a0 This analysis explores demand for hospital services by looking at the data for different aspects of activity over the past 13 years.\u00a0 The analysis indicates rising demand is resulting in increasing hospital activity. There is also evidence that other parts of the health service are facing similar challenges including general practice, district nursing health services and mental health.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Improving care for people with long-term conditions\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rpharms.com\/policy-pdfs\/ltc-scotland-policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a>, published by the RPS in Scotland, argues that pharmacist led care of people with long term conditions could deliver better results and be more cost effective. The Health Committee has published an interim report to allow the emerging themes from witnesses to be presented to government in time to inform the updated suicide prevention strategy.\u00a0\u00a0 A full report will follow next year, once the strategy has been published and witnesses have been invited to give their views.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong>Postpartum haemorrhage guideline<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>The Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists has updated their guideline <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcog.org.uk\/en\/guidelines-research-services\/guidelines\/gtg52\/\">Postpartum haemorrhage, prevention and management<\/a> (Green-top Guideline No. 52). This provides information about the prevention and management of postpartum haemorrhage), primarily for clinicians working in obstetric-led units in the UK.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Winter beds pressures<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Nuffield Trust has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk\/media-centre\/press-releases\/pressure-nhs-beds-could-risk-patient-safety-nuffield-trust-warns\">Nuffield winter insight briefing 1: Winter beds pressures<\/a>).\u00a0 This is the first in a short series of briefings examining the extra pressures on the NHS in winter.
