It is a priority for each of the 3 main Departments of State involved in procuring food. However,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/improving-food-in-hospitals-and-schools\" target=\"_blank\"> the government does not agree with Sustain\u2019s view that legislation is necessary for improvement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Whatever happened to the Department of Health\u2019s plan for vulnerable older people?\u00a0&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/blog\/2014\/05\/whatever-happened-dh-plan-vulnerable-older-people\" target=\"_blank\">The King&#8217;s Fund Blog<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back in the summer of 2013, the Secretary of State for Health\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/new-proposals-to-improve-care-for-vulnerable-older-people\" target=\"_blank\">Jeremy Hunt announced a public consultation on a new plan to improve care for vulnerable older people<\/a> This appeared to be very much his personal mission \u2013 indeed he went on to say in a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/audio-video\/jeremy-hunt-mp-championing-patient-governments-plans-supporting-primary-care-reform\" target=\"_blank\">speech at The King\u2019s Fund that vulnerable older people would be his \u2018primary focus for the next 12 months\u2019<\/a> The key themes in the plan included improving care co-ordination for patients aged over 75 through \u2018named accountable clinicians\u2019, promoting healthy active ageing and wellbeing, and improving \u2018information and choice\u2019 backed by more transparent information and IT solutions. Some details around delivery were imprecise (for instance, how \u2018accountability\u2019 would work and how fit-for-purpose NHS IT systems would be). The use of the word \u2018vulnerable\u2019 with its connotations of dependency and abuse was also unfortunate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/blog\/2014\/05\/whatever-happened-dh-plan-vulnerable-older-people\" target=\"_blank\">Read the blog entry<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NICE issues final draft guidance recommending enzalutamide for prostate cancer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People with hormone-relapsed prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and have been treated with the cytotoxic drug docetaxel, should be given access to enzalutamide through the NHS, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/newsroom\/pressreleases\/NICEIssuesFinalDraftGuidanceRecommendingEnzalutamideForProstateCancer.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">NICE has confirmed in final draft guidance<\/a>.
