The findings from the British Social Attitudes survey, carried out by the National Centre for Social Research between July and October 2016, show 63 per cent of people were satisfied with the NHS. The change in satisfaction since 2015 (when it was 60 per cent) is not statistically significant. Satisfaction remains high by historic standards, but is seven percentage points below its peak of 70 per cent in 2010.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Public health interventions are highly cost saving, review finds<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Masters R, Anwar E, Collins B, et al., Return on investment of public health interventions: a systematic review. J Epidemiol Community Health\u00a0 29 March 2017<\/em><br \/>\nFor every \u00a31 invested in public health an average of \u00a314 will subsequently be returned to the wider health and social care economy, a systematic review of the evidence has demonstrated. The authors said that <a href=\"http:\/\/jech.bmj.com\/content\/jech\/early\/2017\/03\/07\/jech-2016-208141.full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">their findings, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health,<\/a> suggest that cuts to public health services are short sighted and represent a false economy.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Work with Jobcentre Plus to recruit staff\u00a0&#8211; NHS Employers<\/strong><br \/>\nUse Jobcentre Plus (JCP) to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/news\/2017\/03\/jobcentre-plus-web-section\" target=\"_blank\">help your organisation recruit more staff from the local community<\/a>. Please note that free registration is required in order to download this publication.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>One per cent uplift for NHS staff<br \/>\n<\/strong>The government has accepted recommendations from the NHS Pay Review Body and the Review Body for Doctors\u2019 and Dentists\u2019 Remuneration, for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/news\/2017\/03\/government-accepts-1-per-cent-uplift-for-nhs-staff\">one per cent consolidated pay increase with effect from April 2017<strong>.<\/strong><\/a>These recommendations are in line with the government&#8217;s public sector pay policy. The one per cent increase is to all pay points from 1 April 2017 and one per cent increase to the high cost area supplement minimum and maximum payments.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NHS quarterly monitoring report<br \/>\n<\/strong>The King\u2019s Fund has published its <a href=\"http:\/\/qmr.kingsfund.org.uk\/2017\/22\/\">22<sup>nd<\/sup> Quarterly Monitoring Report<\/a>.\u00a0 The report details the results of an online survey of NHS trust finance directors and clinical commissioning group finance leads carried out between 18 January and 1 February 2017. It highlights that despite the recent media focus on access to GPs, the latest survey finds that the rising number of patients with complex health needs is the key factor behind the increasing pressures on A&amp;E departments.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Configuration of stroke services<br \/>\n<\/strong>The National Institute for Health Research has published <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dc.nihr.ac.uk\/themed-reviews\/roads-to-recovery.htm\">Roads to recovery: organisation and quality of stroke services<\/a>.\u00a0 This themed review brings together recent evidence relevant to those planning and delivering stroke services, those delivering treatments to people with stroke and to those living with stroke.
