It makes recommendations that focus on support for bottom-up initiatives that acknowledge the intrinsic motivations that staff feel to care for patients, and for actions at every level of the NHS to enable staff to be at their best with patients.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Costs of inpatient falls in hospitals<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS Improvement has published <a href=\"https:\/\/improvement.nhs.uk\/resources\/incidence-and-costs-inpatient-falls-hospitals\/\">The incidence and costs of inpatient falls in hospitals<\/a>. This review provides an overview of the scale of inpatient falls and the benefits to the NHS if the rate of falls was reduced in hospitals. It examines the incidence of inpatient falls in hospital; the estimated costs hospitals incur as a result of inpatient falls; the potential cost savings from reducing falls by implementing well-evidenced multidisciplinary interventions; and potential savings to hospitals from taking these actions.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u2018Eating for two\u2019 pregnancy myth<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) has highlighted the publication of a survey, to understand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcog.org.uk\/en\/news\/eating-for-two-pregnancy-myth-still-risks-harming-mothers-and-their-babies-despite-best-intentions\/\">women\u2019s perceptions of how much they should eat during pregnancy<\/a>.\u00a0 The survey, commissioned by the National Charity Partnership,, found 69 per cent of women are unaware of how many extra calories they need to consume during pregnancy. The RCOG is working with the National Charity Partnership to bust the \u2019eating for two\u2019 myth and make it easier for people to understand how to make healthy choices during pregnancy to avoid unhealthy weight gain.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Mesh implants<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS England has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/mesh-oversight-group-report\/\">Mesh Oversight Group Report<\/a>. This document sets out progress to fulfil the recommendation set out in the Mesh Working Group interim report.\u00a0 The work aims to address concerns over the use of mesh devices implanted in the pelvic region to treat stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
