Following a successful bid for HEE funding in 2015-2016, a physiotherapist simulation fellow was appointed. With support from Health Education England and RUH simulation experts, the physiotherapist has gained valuable knowledge and skills. Even though the [&#8230;]<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"msubject\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/fabnhsstuff.net\/2017\/08\/21\/nhs-digital-endorses-rcn-every-nurse-e-nurse-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS DIGITAL ENDORSES RCN \u2018EVERY NURSE AN E-NURSE\u2019 CAMPAIGN<\/a>\u00a0NHS Digital has endorsed the Royal College of Nursing\u2019s campaign \u201cEvery nurse an e-nurse\u201d, and pledged to play a supporting role in realising the campaign\u2019s ambition. \u00a0 It comes as NHS Digital today launches its first e-nursing week in support of the campaign for a digital-ready workforce. \u00a0 It is estimated that in many settings [&#8230;]<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"msubject\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/fabnhsstuff.net\/2017\/08\/20\/free-website-learning-medicines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Free website for learning about medicines<\/a>\u00a0 We launched the Medicines Learning Portal website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicineslearningportal.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.medicineslearningportal.org<\/a>\u00a0in 2016 to teach junior hospital pharmacists in the NHS how to solve clinical problems about medicines. This free-to-view site was developed with support from Health Education England and many others. By July 2017 it had received over 250,000 visits and the site is endorsed by [&#8230;]<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"msubject\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/fabnhsstuff.net\/2017\/08\/16\/new-way-learning-supported-practice-familiar-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New way of learning through supported practice in a familiar environment.<\/a>\u00a0The Simulation and Clinical Skills Teams at Wirral University Teaching Hospital have been mobile around the Trust working closely with Departments and Teams to bring educational events to clinical areas. We also look at the main ways in which health care is paid for in different countries and the pros and cons of each<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Hunt vs. Hawking: who\u2019s right about the NHS?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, clashed with Professor Stephen Hawking over the weekend about\u00a0the NHS.\u00a0The exchange saw claims and counter-claims scattered\u00a0across the pages of the weekend papers, with each\u00a0accusing the other of ignoring evidence.\u00a0So, who\u2019s right? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channel4.com\/news\/factcheck\/hunt-vs-hawking-whos-right-about-the-nhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FactCheck\u00a0looks at the four biggest points of contention between the pair.<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Education and training survey<\/strong><br \/>\nHealth Education England\u2019s Technology Enhanced Learning team has launched a survey to discover the <a href=\"https:\/\/hee2017.questionpro.eu\/\">views of NHS staff on education and training<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0 The survey aims to find out how staff currently learn, preferences for future learning and the role that technology and digital may play in enhancing learning.\u00a0 The survey closes on 30 September 2017.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Whistleblowers Support Scheme<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS England has launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/2017\/08\/nhs-whistleblowers-scheme\/\">Whistleblowers Support Scheme<\/a>.\u00a0 This pilot scheme will offer a range of services including career coaching, financial advice and mediation for primary care staff who have suffered as a result of raising concerns about NHS practice.\u00a0 The pilot will run until March 2018.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>GP training &#8211; consultation outcome<\/strong><br \/>\nHealth Education England (HEE) has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hee.nhs.uk\/news-blogs-events\/hee-news\/targeted-gp-training-support-proposals-including-extensions-training\">Targeted GP training proposal including changes to extensions to training: consultation outcome<\/a>.\u00a0 This document details the outcomes of the discussions and consultation on the two parallel and interdependent proposals of \u2018Targeted GP Training\u2019 and \u2018Amending Rules for extensions to training\u2019 run by HEE between December 2016 and April 2017. It sets out where changes have been made to the proposals outlined in the consultation and provides details of next steps.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Accessible Information Standard<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS England has issued a revised version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/accessible-information-standard-specification\/\">Accessible Information Standard specification<\/a>.\u00a0 Organisations are expected to consider the revised specification and the associated \u2018change paper\u2019 which details the amendments, in order to ensure they remain compliant.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>End of life care: people who have a learning disability<\/strong><br \/>\nNHS England has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/publication\/delivering-high-quality-end-of-life-care-for-people-who-have-a-learning-disability\/\">Delivering high quality end of life care for people who have a learning disability<\/a>.\u00a0 This document provides resources for commissioners, providers and social care staff providing or delivering care to people with a learning disability at the end of their lives.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Polypharmacy in older people<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Centre for Reviews and Dissemination has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/crd\/publications\/effectiveness-matters\/\">Effectiveness Matters: reducing harm from polypharmacy in older people<\/a>.
