Includes an analysis of DTOC rate by sector, which indicates that community providers are significantly affected.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Focus on physicians: Census of consultant physicians and higher specialty trainees 2016\u201317 \u2013 Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Physicians of London<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/allcatsrgrey.org.uk\/wp\/download\/management\/human_resources\/Focus-on-physicians_0_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report outlines the findings of a wellbeing survey <\/a>and it finds that only one in four substantive consultant physicians in the UK feel valued by the hospital in which they work. Respondents also reported a desire for more time for teaching, research and patient care in their workload.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The role of technology in improving patient flow<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Nuffield Trust has published a \u2018long read\u2019 article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk\/news-item\/managing-patient-flow-and-improving-efficiencies-the-role-of-technology\">Managing patient flow and improving efficiencies: the role of technology<\/a>.\u00a0 This article looks at how technology to track beds, equipment, staff and patients in the USA has made a difference to flow and operational management in two health care organisations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Behind Closed Doors: Can we expect NHS staff to be the shock absorbers of a system under pressure? \u2013 Point of Care Foundation\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/allcatsrgrey.org.uk\/wp\/download\/management\/human_resources\/POC_Closed_doors_07_17_v5.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">briefing highlights the latest evidence on NHS staff, their experience at work, the pressures they face and the consequences for patients<\/a>. The\u00a0Point of Care Foundation believes that it\u2019s critically important that NHS\u00a0employers to pay attention to staff and their experience at work because\u00a0when staff feel positive and engaged with work it has a positive impact on\u00a0patient experience. \u00a0Behind Closed Doors therefore recommends that staff experience should\u00a0be given equal priority with patient experience at all levels of the healthcare\u00a0system.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Plans to improve NHS Continuing Healthcare assessment processes \u2013 NHS England\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nOutlines <a href=\"http:\/\/allcatsrgrey.org.uk\/wp\/download\/commissioning\/letter-improve-nhs-continuing-healthcare-assessment-processes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revised guidance <\/a>in relation to NHS Continuing Healthcare assessments in order to promote a reduction in delayed transfers of care. CCGs will be required to review current assessment processes and ensure that the current procedures do not contribute to delays in transfer of care.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NHS Health Check 40-64 Dementia Pilot: Research Findings: Summary Research Report \u2013 Alzheimer\u2019s Society\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nAlzheimer\u2019s Society <a href=\"http:\/\/allcatsrgrey.org.uk\/wp\/download\/public_health\/mental_health\/dementia\/Solutions_Dementia_Pilot_Summary_Report_Final_1.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report <\/a>that summarises the findings from a pilot project into the effectiveness of dementia risk reduction messaging in NHS Health Checks. It found that the pilot project showed promise in shifting public awareness and understanding of dementia risk with 75 per cent of the 164 participants recalling the advice on dementia risk and 80 per cent reporting that the advice would impact on their behaviour.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Progress Through Partnership: Involvement of People With Lived Experience of Mental Illness in CCG Commissioning \u2013 Rethink Mental Illness\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nLittle is known about the extent to which CCGs are involving people with experience of mental illness in the <a href=\"http:\/\/allcatsrgrey.org.uk\/wp\/download\/public_health\/mental_health\/progress-through-partnership.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commissioning of mental health services<\/a>. \u00a0This despite\u00a0recommendations set out over a year ago in the\u00a0Five year forward view for mental health. \u00a0It also finds a lack of planning for co-production on the part of CCGs\u00a0due to pressure on resources and workload.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Joint statement from the Chief Executives of statutory regulators of health and care professionals: Conflicts of Interest \u2013 Health and Care Professions Council\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nSets out <a href=\"http:\/\/allcatsrgrey.org.uk\/wp\/download\/governance\/clinical_governance\/100054F2FinalVersionConflictsofInterestJointStatement.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expectations on how health and care professionals are expected to manage conflicts of interest<\/a>. \u00a0 In doing so it\u00a0supports the standards or code for each profession and any additional guidance they may have.
