{"id":8788,"date":"2017-09-15T11:46:26","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T10:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/?p=8788"},"modified":"2017-09-15T11:55:58","modified_gmt":"2017-09-15T10:55:58","slug":"knowledge-lert-for-friday-15th-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lihnnhs.info\/Sando\/2017\/09\/15\/knowledge-lert-for-friday-15th-september\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge @lert for Friday 15th September"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Seven Day Services Clinical Standards &#8211;\u00a0NHS England<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/seven-day-service-clinical-standards-september-2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supporting information<\/a> for trusts implementing the ten seven day hospital services clinical standards, along with the evidence base for each standard.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Hip fracture database<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Royal College of Physicians has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcplondon.ac.uk\/projects\/outputs\/national-hip-fracture-database-annual-report-2017\">National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD) annual report 2017<\/a>. This ninth annual report examines trends in performance and outcome over the 10 years since the NHFD was established.\u00a0 It shows that while more patients are receiving early surgery and surviving a hip fracture, two in five are not receiving all of the recommended elements of a hip fracture programme that represent \u2018best practice\u2019.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Transferring people in and out of hospital<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Social Care Institute for Excellence and NICE has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scie.org.uk\/publications\/ataglance\/moving-hospital-home.asp\">Moving between hospital and home, including care homes: a quick guide for registered managers of care homes and home care<\/a>.\u00a0 This guide, based on NICE guidelines and quality standards, provides a brief overview of how care home managers can work with hospitals to ensure a good experience of transition for the people in their care.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Equally outstanding: equality and human rights \u2013 good practice resource &#8211;\u00a0Care Quality Commission<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cqc.org.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/20170913_equally_outstanding_ehr_resource_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guidance <\/a>aims to help providers put equality and human rights at the heart of their improvement work so that the quality of care gets better for everyone. It contains case studies and identifies nine common success factors.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NHS efficiency map &#8211;\u00a0Healthcare Financial Management Association<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hfma.org.uk\/docs\/default-source\/publications\/case-study\/nhs-efficiency-map---september-2017.pdf?sfvrsn=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map <\/a>promotes best practice in identifying, delivering and monitoring cost improvement programmes in the NHS. It contains links to a range of tools and guidance to help NHS bodies improve their efficiency. The map is split into three sections: enablers for efficiency, provider efficiency and system efficiency. It highlights the successes some NHS providers have had in delivering specific efficiency schemes and provides sign-posts to existing tools and reference materials. It also includes updated definitions for different types of efficiency.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Expanding performance assessments of providers regulated by CQC: consultation &#8211;\u00a0Department of Health<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Department of Health proposes to amend the Care Quality Commission (Reviews and Performance Assessments) Regulations 2014 so that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has a duty to rate all providers of regulated activities, except for some specific registered service providers or regulated activities. This <a href=\"https:\/\/consultations.dh.gov.uk\/cqc-sponsorship\/performance-assessments-of-providers\/consultation\/intro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consultation <\/a>is targeted at providers of health and social care services registered with the CQC. The closing date for comments is 7 November 2017.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Draft Health Service Safety Investigations Bill &#8211;\u00a0Department of Health<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/644741\/Draft_Bill_Health_Service_Safety_Investigations.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">draft bill<\/a> proposes setting up the Health Service Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB). The HSSIB will conduct investigations which focus on learning from patient safety incidents in the NHS, to reduce health care harm and improve patient care. The draft bill allows the HSSIB to conduct investigations using \u2018safe space\u2019. \u2018Safe space\u2019 is a set of legal powers that prevent the HSSIB from disclosing the information it gathers in the course of an investigation.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Health economics: evidence resource tool &#8211;\u00a0Public Health England<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/644344\/Health_economics_evidence_resource.xlsm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">health economic evidence resource tool<\/a> shows the key cost-effectiveness and return on investment evidence on activities in the public health grant. Each piece of evidence is summarised across over 20 criteria to provide details on how the results were created and to highlight the inputs and assumptions used in the original studies. It aims to help users to understand the relevance and apply the evidence to their local setting.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Getting into shape: delivering a workforce for integrated care &#8211;\u00a0Reform<\/strong><br \/>\nThis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reform.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Getting-into-shape.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paper <\/a>focuses on the structural barriers to delivering integrated care. It studies issues such as the medical labour market, devolved workforce planning and pay, and professional boundaries.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>NHS SBS transforms back office functions of 48 organisations &#8211;\u00a0NHE | NEWS\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA \u00a310m investment by NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) has driven <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalhealthexecutive.com\/Health-Care-News\/nhs-sbs-transforms-back-office-functions-of-48-organisations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">48 organisations to sign contracts <\/a>for a range of finance, procurement and employment services targeting transforming back office functions across the health service.
