Unlike standard public inquiries, this investigation would be led by people with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthwatch.co.uk\/thenwhat\/about\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">direct experience of unsafe discharge<\/span><\/a>. Healthwatch wants to hear people&#8217;s experiences of the discharge process and learn what can be done to improve outcomes.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Research report considers staff experience and patient outcomes &#8211;\u00a0NHS Employers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NHS Employers have commissioned a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/case-studies-and-resources\/2014\/07\/research-report-staff-experience-and-patient-outcomes\" target=\"_blank\">report <\/a>on behalf of NHS England looking at the international research evidence on the links between staff and patient experience.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Addressing missing data in patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs): implications for comparing provider performance &#8211;\u00a0Centre for Health Economics (CHE)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.york.ac.uk\/media\/che\/documents\/papers\/researchpapers\/CHERP101_PROMs_missing_data_provider_performance.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">paper <\/a>argues that comparisons of provider performance using patient reported outcome measures should account for missing PROMs data. It argues that the missing data creates statistical problems and this may make PROMs data less representative of patient experiences. This paper tests out a statistical approach which aims to compensate for the missing data.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Series of podcasts explore impact of staff engagement in the NHS\u00a0&#8211; NHS Employers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In our latest series of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/news\/2014\/07\/series-of-podcasts-explore-impact-of-staff-engagement-in-the-nhs\" target=\"_blank\">podcasts<\/a>, we present the emerging results of a research evidence review on the impact of staff engagement in the NHS.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Biomedical engineering: advancing UK healthcare\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Instistute of Mechanical Engineers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imeche.org\/docs\/default-source\/reports\/biomedical-engineering-advancing-uk-healthcare.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">report <\/a>argues that boosting the number, as well as the influence, of engineers in the NHS would help cut the number of incidents caused by faulty medical equipment.
