It recognises that many people use vaping as an effective stop\u2011smoking aid, but some eventually want to quit vaping \u2014 either gradually or immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Points<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Clients can choose to stop vaping <strong>gradually<\/strong> (reducing nicotine strength, reducing frequency) or <strong>in one step<\/strong>, depending on personal preference and relapse risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Vaping is an effective quitting tool<\/strong>, and NICE recommends using vapes for as long as they help prevent relapse to smoking. The main priority when assisting someone to quit vaping is avoiding a return to cigarette use. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsct.co.uk\/library\/view\/pdf\/Supporting-stopping-vaping-2023.pdf\">[ncsct.co.uk]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Support should be <strong>tailored to the person\u2019s stage of quitting<\/strong> and their <strong>risk of relapse<\/strong>.
