Recommendations for safe trainee changeover – Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) 

Doctors in training in the UK have historically started new six-monthly rotations in February and August, with the majority of junior doctors rotating to new training programmes during the first week of August. There is an increasing body of evidence to suggest that simultaneous trainee changeover is associated with higher mortality, reduced efficiency and lower satisfaction. AoMRC and NHS Employers have worked with partner organisations to develop simple, practical recommendations that can help mitigate these problems.

New CQC inspection framework: what does a ‘well-led’ organisation look like? – King’s Fund Blog

Last week the Care Quality Commission (CQC) launched a consultation giving more detail on proposed changes to the way it regulates, inspects and rates health and social care providers, building on the new vision and direction that it set out last year.The new inspection framework sets out five ‘domains’, assessing providers on whether they are: safe; effective; caring; responsive to people’s needs; and well-led.

NICE: Breast cancer drug costing tens of thousands of pounds more than other treatments ‘unaffordable’ for NHS

A breast cancer treatment that can cost more than £90,000 per patient is not effective enough to justify the price the NHS is being asked to pay, says NICE.
