The road to MCPs: experts assess the new model of care sketched by the Five Year Forward View – Primary Care Commissioning (PCC)
This briefing outlines the discussions from a debate on the likely evolution of multi-specialty community providers, one of the new models of care envisaged by the NHS Five Year Forward View. The group urged commissioners and providers to take a broad view of the subject, not to wait for a definitive model to emerge.


The handling by the General Medical Council of cases involving whistleblowers – General Medical Council (GMC)  
This is the final report of an independent review independent review commissioned by the GMC which recommends that organisations referring concerns about a doctor’s fitness to practise to the GMC should declare whether the doctor has raised concerns about patient safety. It argues there is evidence that those who raise concerns may suffer, or believe that they suffer, reprisals from their employer or from colleagues. He proposes a series of recommendations for GMC investigations to make sure that such whistleblowers are treated fairly.


Statutory guidance for local authorities and NHS organisations to support implementation of the adult autism strategy – Department of Health (DH)
This statutory guidance shows how local authorities and NHS organisations should carry out their responsibilities under the Autism Act 2009 to develop services that support and meet the needs of people with autism, and their families and carers. It also explains what support they can expect to receive from local authorities and NHS organisations.


Swimming against the tide? The quality of NHS services during the current parliament – Health Foundation 
This briefing summarises trends in the quality of NHS care in England since the 2010 general election. It examines the quality of NHS care in relation to five key dimensions: patient safety; waiting times; mental health care; person-centred care; and international comparisons with other systems.


CCG assurance framework 2015/16 – NHS England
This framework sets out five components that reflect the key elements of a well led effective clinical commissioner and underpin assurance discussions between CCGs and NHS England, whilst identifying on-going ambitions for CCG development. The components include being well led; performance; financial management; planning; and delegated functions.


Dementia-friendly health and social care environments – Department of Health
This health building note sets out the design guidance for dementia-friendly health and social care environments. The design principles, core design features and a selection of case studies provide guidance for the development of new design solutions and the adaptation or extension of existing facilities.


NHS car-parking management: environment and sustainability – Department of Health

In 2014 the Department of Health published its car-parking principles, which provide clear and consistent ground rules that will help manage car-parking provision in the NHS and help to improve the patient experience across the NHS. This health technical memorandum provides guidance that will help NHS organisations deliver these principles.
