The NHS in 2030: A vision of a people-powered knowledge-powered health system
“The changes to healthcare imagined in this paper would add up to a fundamental shift in how people understand health and who is responsible for managing it. By 2030, there may be new kinds of knowledge, new ways of using it and new kinds of people involved in health support and services.”

The Future of Primary Care
Health Education England has published The future of primary care: creating teams for tomorrow. This report has been produced by an independent Primary Care Workforce Commission with the remit to identify solutions that would meet the present and future primary care needs of the NHS.  It sets out the Commission’s thinking which includes calling for greater collaboration across organisations and a broader range of staff involved in the delivery of healthcare.

Using incentives to improve experiences in maternity, children and young people’s services
NHS South East Commissioning Support Unit has published Using incentives to improve experience in maternity, children and young people’s services.  Commissioned by NHS England, this report examines how financial incentives are being used across the country to improve the experience of maternity, children and young people’s services.  It identifies three core recommendations to develop and evaluate the impact of CQUINs and other financial incentives.

National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness
The University of Manchester’s has published the results from the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness.  This report highlights that there has been a 29% rise in suicide since 2006 among men under the care of mental health services in the UK. The largest rise was seen in middle aged men, 45-54 years old, in whom the increase has been 73%. The report suggests that alcohol and economic factors such as job loss and debt may be contributing to the rise.

Accident and Emergency statistics
The House of Commons library has published a briefing paper Accident and Emergency Statistics.  This briefing provides summaries and visualisations of a wide range of A&E trends, including: levels of attendance over time; attendance by age, time and day of the week; various measures of waiting times; and reason for attendance. It also explores the extent and limitations of the available data sources.

MenB vaccine and paracetamol use
Public Health England has published Information about the MenB vaccine and paracetamol use.  This information leaflet informs parents of the increased risk of fever when MenB vaccine is given alongside other immunisations at 2 and 4 months of age, and recommends having paracetamol at home in advance of immunisation appointments to reduce the risk of fever.
