Reducing agency spend through a collaborative mobile app – NHS Employers 
This case study describes how Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has maximised the take up of bank shifts through development of a mobile app allowing clinicians to self select shifts.


The state of hospice services in England: 2014 to 2017 – Care Quality Commission (CQC)
This report presents findings from CQC’s hospice inspection programme and finds that hospice care across England has the highest percentage of health and social care services that are rated outstanding (25 per cent), and a further 70 per cent are rated good. The inspections found that hospice leaders and frontline staff displayed a strong commitment to providing truly person-centred, compassionate care and support to people using their services, and their loved ones.


PHE Cancer Board plan: 2017 to 2021 – Public Health England (PHE)
This plan outlines the approach to co-ordinating PHE’s cancer work for the next five years. It is aligned with the Five year forward view and the Independent Cancer Taskforce report and highlights how we will work in partnership with others to achieve the recommendations and enhance PHE’s role in the fight against cancer.

    Local government’s national representative has advised councils to “throw in the bin” warning letters over care delays, amid fresh warnings that relationships are being fractured by the funding row.
  • ‘No systematic bullying’ of NHS finance staff, says second professional body 
    A second body representing NHS finance staff has described reports of senior managers feeling bullied into reporting unachievable numbers “disturbing”, but does not believe there is a “systematic” problem.
