Shared decision making- guidance [NG197], NICE  
This guideline promotes ways for healthcare professionals and people using services to work together to make decisions about treatment and care. It includes recommendations on training, and communicating risks, benefits and consequences, using decision aids.


Risk factors for Clostridioides difficile colonization among hospitalized adults: A meta-analysis and systematic review – Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology
C difficile colonization was significantly associated with previous hospitalization, gastric acid suppression, tube feeding, and corticosteroid use. Recognition of these risk factors may assist in identifying asymptomatic carriers of C difficile and taking appropriate measures to reduce transmission.

Sets out how and when to use a PCR home test kit to test for COVID-19 before a hospital procedure.


Moral distress and moral injury: recognising and tackling it for UK doctors – British Medical Association
This pan-profession survey of UK doctors survey found that 78 per cent of respondents said they could identify with the term ‘moral distress’. This can be understood as occurring when ‘institutional and resource constraints create a sense of unease among doctors from being conflicted about the quality of care they can give’.


Long Covid: the NHS plan for 2021/22 – NHS England and NHS Improvement
A five-point plan including advice for clinicians and information for patients, post-Covid assessment clinics, and specialist online rehabilitation support was published in October 2020. This plan outlines ten key next steps to be taken to support those suffering from long Covid.


My role in tackling health inequalities: a framework for allied health professionals – King’s Fund Blog
Allied health professionals (AHPs) are an important part of the health and care workforce. In England, 170,000 AHPs work across 14 professional groups providing clinical care and contributing to population health more widely (by improving health and tackling health inequalities).  The King’s Fund has worked with AHPs from across the UK to develop a framework to support any AHP to think through and understand their contribution to tackling health inequalities, whatever their role. The framework details how AHPs can raise awareness, take action and optimise advocacy through six lenses: self; patients; clinical teams, pathway and service groups; communities and networks; systems; and nurturing the future.


National guidance for the recovery of elective surgery in children, RCPCH 
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the cessation of all but the most urgent elective children’s surgical cases during the period of peak prevalence of infection in the general population.
