A lot of patients with COVID require CPAP which is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure . This is delivered via a machine and a hood as demonstrated or a face mask – this helps to keep the small airways open and help push oxygen through the damaged lung tissue . The patients are given breaks for food and fluids and mouthcare but it is usually worn continuously .
