Young people are now more likely to experience a common mental disorder than any other age group – a complete reversal compared to two decades ago when they were least likely to, according to a report by the Resolution Foundation. It says the economic consequences are also greatest for those whose poor mental comes together with poor educational outcomes, with one-in-three young non-graduates with a common mental disorder being currently workless.

Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health
The 2024 National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health has been published. The report is based on people aged 10 and above who died by suicide between 2011 and 2021 across all of the UK addition to findings and contains key messages relating to mental health patient suicides and acute mental health care; suicide by patients following one-off assessment; suicide by autistic people and/or patients with ADHD; suicide by inpatients aged under 25; suicide by students in England and Wales; and patients who died by suicide in public locations.
