Allied Health Professions Day

AHPs are the third largest healthcare workforce, with significant opportunities to support delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan. AHPs’ Day is an annual opportunity for AHPs to come together and celebrate being part of the AHP family, and the day gives an opportunity to showcase to others the impact they make to the delivery of high quality care. The collaborations in services, organisations, trusts, regions and nationally enable:

Improved awareness of the role of the fourteen allied health professions
Showcasing the achievements of local services and their impact on patient care and population health
Integrated working with other services and organisations.

Research project opportunity

We have joined up with UHMB Library and Knowledge Services within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a program on evidence based practice.

The project aims to:

Map the distribution of AHPs across the ICP, breaking it down by professional role, who they work for and who they serve including any cross-organisational working

Increase the awareness of Library services and provide support to aid with the treatment of patients

Facilitate links across the Trust and within local authorities to create long lasting contacts and to share knowledge and good practice

Offer an educational programme of evidence-based practice based on the concept of critically appraised topics supported by a series of lectures and workshops delivered by Lancaster University

Stimulate engagement with research and service development in the ICP and provide the groundwork for research collaboration

Equip staff with the knowledge, confidence and support to undertake their own research projects

Developing allied health professional leaders: an interactive guide for clinicians and trust boards

NHS England and NHS Improvement guide to professional development opportunities and possibilities to support allied health professionals (AHPs) lead at all levels. It describes the common features of the AHP leadership journey, by combining insights and evidence from trust executives and chief AHPs. Its primary audience is aspiring AHP leaders and those with responsibility for developing the AHP workforce.
