Health and Care

LGBTQ+ inclusion framework

The LGBTQ+ population in the UK experiences significant physical and mental health inequalities compared with the general population. These inequalities extend from increased risk factors for ill health and barriers to accessing health care and support, to discrimination against LGBTQ+ staff within the workplace. This framework comprises six key pillars of inclusivity that organisations should aim to build to create and maintain inclusive cultures: visible leadership and confident staff; a strong knowledge base; being non-heteronormative and non-cisnormative; collecting and reporting data; listening to service users; and proactively seeking out partners to co-deliver services.

Lunch and Learn Project

The library are pleased to announce that our ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions will commence in March. These 1 hour sessions are an opportunity for staff to listen and learn to a key speaker during their lunch hour, with the hope that you will learn something new . Each month will focus on a different key speaker, with guests from inside and outside the Trust.

All Library members will receive a Teams invite to attend the session live, however sessions will be recorded for those unavailable to watch at their leisure. Please email katie.roper@lscft.nhs.uk if you would like the invite to be extended to you or your team.

If you would like to get involved and be a key speaker to raise awareness of your department, discuss your specialism or have any requests for key speakers please email Katie.roper@lscft.nhs.uk or academic.library@lscft.nhs.uk

Please feel free to download the poster below to display in your workplace:

Looking forward to lunching and learning with you all.

However, despite some existing work in this area, less is known about how to achieve greater scale and spread beyond early adopters. The Nuffield Trust was commissioned by the NHS Innovation Accelerator to help fill this knowledge gap.

Map roles using the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework

The Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework describes the functions and activities carried out by people working to protect and promote the public’s health across the UK. It can be used to: help individuals to recognise their capabilities in relation to public health activity, enabling them to manage their development and career planning; and support career conversations between individual workers and their peers, supervisors, mentors or managers, to support career planning and progression.
